FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION: This Saturday, December 8th, is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. It is a Holy Day of Obligation for all Catholics. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches: “The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the Human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin.” (#491)…By the grace of God Mary remained free of every personal sin her whole life long.” (#493) It is our hope and prayer that in honoring Mary, through her intercession, we too may grow in holiness and be less caught up in a slavery to sin. Please note carefully the Masses here at St. Aloysius for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. On Friday evening the Vigil Mass will be celebrated as usual at 5PM. On Saturday morning, there will be only ONE Mass at 8:30AM. (The Vigil Mass for the First Sunday of Advent will be celebrated at 5PM Saturday afternoon.) “O Mary, conceived without Original Sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.”
